Chennai’s First Anime FGC Event: Thakkali Knockout – A Smash Hit!

On 22nd September, 2024, the Electronic Sports Association of Tamil Nadu (ESAT) proudly partnered with Knowledge Check to host Thakkali Knockout Chennai, marking the city’s first-ever AnimeFGC event! It was a vibrant celebration of competitive gaming, featuring some of the most beloved anime fighting games, and an amazing introduction for those new to the scene.

We had five exciting games showcased throughout the day:

• Dragonball FighterZ

• Guilty Gear Strive

• Granblue Fantasy Vs Rising

• Blazblue Centrafliction

• Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

The Knowledge Check team, led by Mr Dhruv Anand, was phenomenal in guiding players who had never experienced these titles before. They created a welcoming atmosphere, offering hands-on training sessions for new gamers to get familiar with these complex fighting games. Whether you were a seasoned pro or just discovering the genre, there was something for everyone!

The main event of the day was a Blazblue Centrafliction Tournament, which saw fierce competition and a large bracket filled with incredible matches. The energy was electric, with great vibes flowing through the venue as players showcased their skills. Spectators were on the edge of their seats throughout the tournament, cheering for their favorite competitors.

The success of Thakkali Knockout Chennai was not just in the intense gaming but in the sense of community it fostered. It was a thrill to watch players come together, share strategies, and create new friendships.
